STANLEY – Alfreda Joan
July 17th, 1933 to March 3rd, 2016

Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia and passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, March 3rd 2016 in Delta, British Columbia. With her family gathered by her side her last few days were ones of warmth, comfort and prayer. She took her last breath to the sound of joyous hymns. Alfreda joins her husband of fifty eight years, John, in God’s loving embrace. Alfreda is survived by her sister Victoria and her husband Adam and by her three children and twelve grandchildren; son Alfred, and daughter-in-law Helen (grandchildren John, Helen and Stuart), daughter Katherine and son-in-law David (grandchildren Shea, Cooper and Reese) and daughter Jacqueline and son-in-law Philip (grandchildren Sadie, Jocelyn, Kate, Mary, Michael, and Pip). Alfreda was predeceased by her father Judge Alfred Swencisky and her mother Jean. Alfreda was a native Vancouverite attending the Convent of the Sacred Heart and Prince of Wales high school. She found her passion in nursing and graduated from the St. Paul Hospital Nursing School. She continued to nurse off-and-on for forty years. For many years she called Calgary, Alberta home and had the privilege of many wonderful friends there, in addition to her lifelong friends from high school and Vancouver. Her greatest joy was her family and although Alzheimer’s took away her memory it never tarnished the memory her children or grandchildren had of their charming, witty and wonderful grandmother. A special thank you from our entire family to the nurses and staff at Delta View Life Enrichment Center, mother’s home for the past twelve years as she battled Alzheimer’s. We thank the Devji family for their vision for a place to care for patients of this heartbreaking disease with care, compassion, kindness and human dignity. The funeral Mass to celebrate Alfreda’s life will be held in the Chapel at Sacred Heart Church, 3900 Arthur Drive, Ladner B.C. at 11am on Friday, March 11th, 2016. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Fee’s name to Delta View and all their outstanding work with dementia patients, would be greatly appreciated, Delta View Volunteer Society, 9321 Burns Drive, Delta, B.C.
