Vern was predeceased in 2007, by his beloved wife and best friend, Audray, his lifelong companion of 65 years, brother Bert and granddaughter Kira.

Vern was a proud navy veteran of WWII. His presence will be greatly missed on Remembrance Day as he always attended the services at his local cenotaph representing those Veterans.

Vern spent his working years as a builder. The construction company he owned jointly with his brother Ray, built many buildings in Great Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the interior of British Columbia. Many townhouse and apartment complexes, warehouses, car dealerships, Courthouses and Churches still standing, are a testament to their construction skills.

A longtime resident of Tsawwassen, Vern enjoyed his time on the water, especially sailing.
